Good Bye Forever

Last hurrah for the Transbay Terminal. But there weren't people that were going to let this go away without a night of shooting (pictures) and at one point a group of rollerbladers came in and blasted Billie Jean. Not only that, Muni brought in one of their old Fishbowls (aka Jimmies) for all to see, so, yeah, if you didn't come, you missed out. Wonder why AC Transit didn't bring in one of their old vehicles...

The Good Old Days

Fishbowl

Coincidentally, the last NL was Van Hool 2010. Hey, we're in the year 2010, and Transbay closed in 2010. But, no press conference from that.

Last NL From Transbay

Instead, it was all about the O.

Last Bus From Transbay

As soon as the last bus left, they started to march us out of the Terminal. Work began soon afterward; as soon as I got out of the Terminal, I started seeing crewmen taking down the trolley wires around the Terminal and I heard welding noises from the Terminal. Wow, they must really be desperate to get rid of a place they treated like shit hunh???? Especially when the closure got delayed. For example:

Predation

Not only that, Greyhound left two days before the rest of the Terminal closed:

Different Strokes

Anyone wanna bet that the project's going to be complete in 2020? Hey, don't forget about delays!

Leaving The Terminal

So, let's conclude: The Terminal *officially* closed at 12:22am (the press conference delayed the departure of the O) and operations from this terminal has moved to a "temporary" terminal at Howard and Main. The project, meanwhile, started immediately after then. Groundbreaking is scheduled for August 11th at 10am, and the terminal itself will be complete in 2017 without accounting for delays.
